The Challenge

The data center hosts financial and e-commerce platforms requiring 99.999% uptime. Indonesian grid stability in the area was insufficient, with voltage sags and monthly outages lasting 30 minutes to 4 hours.

The client required a backup power architecture that could start and accept full load within 10 seconds, operate in a 35°C environment with 80% humidity, and fit within a limited outdoor compound adjacent to the building.

Our Solution

We delivered two 1000kVA Cummins QST30-G5 generators in 40-foot high-cube containers with integrated fuel tanks, louvers, and sound attenuation. The container design allowed installation on a flat concrete pad without needing a dedicated engine room.

The units are synchronized through a Deepsea DSE8660 parallel controller and connected via a closed-transition ATS to avoid even momentary interruption during test runs. Each container is fitted with dehumidifiers and space heaters to protect controls from tropical humidity.

Before handover, we performed a full-load step-load test, a 24-hour continuous load-bank test, and multiple mains-failure simulations witnessed by the client's Tier-III certification auditor.

Since going live in January 2024, the backup system has experienced 11 automatic starts due to grid events. Every start reached stable voltage and frequency within 6 seconds, and full load transfer was completed within the 10-second SLA. The facility has maintained its 99.999% uptime commitment.

Sound levels at the property boundary measure 68 dB(A), satisfying the local environmental permit. The client has since placed a follow-on order for a third 1000kVA unit to support a planned expansion.
